Sabat is a covered passageway between old Gulf homes. The kind of place where the air remembers everyone who has passed through it. Chapter I is built on that feeling.
Oud for the depth of old wood and earth. Lavender for the cool air moving through. Polished leather for the worn surfaces of a place that has been lived in. Sweet almond for the warmth you carry with you when you leave. It does not perform. It lingers.
The Manuscript
In Arabic, Makhtut means a manuscript, a record carrying the memory of a place, a time, a life. At Makhtut, we write our stories through fragrance. Every release is a chapter of a different country, a story drawn from its heritage, preserved in scent before it fades.
The Chapters
Every chapter is a limited run tied to a single country. When it sells out, it's gone, no restocks, no reprints. The next chapter brings a new country, new scent, new story. You don't follow a brand. You follow a manuscript.

CHAPTER I
The Story of Sabat
A Sabat is a covered passageway built between old Gulf homes. A shaded corridor carrying the intimacy of old neighborhoods and the echo of passing time. This is the kind of place most people have walked through and few have stopped to remember.
This is our first chapter because Makhtut exists to remember it and to carry that memory forward, in scent.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I apply Sabat?
Apply to pulse points - wrists, neck, the inside of the elbow. These areas carry warmth that activates the fragrance and helps it evolve naturally throughout the day. Do not rub the wrists together after application, this breaks the top notes before they have a chance to open. Let Sabat settle on the skin and develop at its own pace. It is not a fragrance that announces itself. It reveals itself slowly.
How long does Sabat last on the skin?
Sabat is formulated for 8-10 hours of wear on skin, with the oud and leather base notes carrying the longest. Longevity varies with skin type, drier skin may absorb fragrance faster, while moisturised skin holds it longer. For extended wear, apply to hair or clothing, where Sabat tends to linger well beyond the day. It is designed to leave a trace, not a statement.
Sabat suitable for men and women?
Sabat is unisex by design. The oud and leather notes give it depth and warmth, while the lavender and sweet almond soften it, creating a balance that wears differently on different skin chemistry. It was not made for a gender. It was made for a feeling. Fragrance in Gulf culture has never been divided by gender, and neither is Sabat.
Will Sabat be restocked once it sells out?
No. Sabat is limited to 1,000 bottles, the full and final edition of Chapter I. When the last bottle is claimed, Chapter I closes permanently. There will be no restock, no second run, and no future release of this chapter. This is not a marketing decision. It is the foundation of the MAKHTUT manuscript model, every chapter is written once, completely, and then the manuscript moves forward. Chapter II will be a different country, a different story, and an entirely new fragrance.
